
Michelle demonstrates both a strong interest and exceptional skills in research and evaluation using qualitative research methodology. Michelle is well versed and experienced in conducting in-depth literature reviews and environmental scans using the academic, grey literature, and the web. Michelle has extensive experience in the data collection process such as conducting one-on-one interviews and focus groups. Michelle is well versed in qualitative data analysis and she is especially skilled in the use of qualitative data management/analysis software programs including NVivo and ATLAS TI. Through her past experience working at the IWK Health Centre and the North End Community Health Centre, Michelle has also developed an understanding of statistical analysis using software such as SPSS and Minitab, as well as the collection of quantitative data including chart reviews. Trained in health promotion, Michelle is committed to participatory research and evaluation using adult education principles. She has recently moderated focus groups with a range of stakeholders including multi-disciplinary health care providers, community organizations, and parents who live in more challenging circumstances. Along with moderating, Michelle has recently developed and facilitated focus group training. Since joining Research Power Incorporated in July 2006, Michelle has applied her qualitative methods skills to program evaluation including the development and implementation of evaluation frameworks (e.g., program logic models, indicator development and evaluation matrices). Michelle has been extensively involved in the development and implementation of Health Promoting Schools evaluation frameworks with multiple stakeholders including the Departments of Health and Education as well as several Health Districts and School Boards. Michelle is a strong presenter and report writer including developing report frameworks, summarizing findings, and completing report summaries and conclusions. Michelle graduated from Dalhousie University with a Master of Arts in Health Promotion, and she has a Bachelor of Science in Applied Human Nutrition from Mount Saint Vincent University.
